Who can take lessons?
fleet_line
You can start at any age, but you can't fly solo until age 14. There is also a simple medical exam. You must be over 16 years old to receive a Recreational Permit (which carries some restrictions). At age 17 you can qualify for a Private Pilot License.
Is the training difficult?
fleet_line
The material isn't difficult, but there is a lot to learn! Our instructors make learning fun and easy and you progress at your own pace, on your own schedule.
Do I have to own an airplane?
fleet_line
No, the use of Club aircraft is included in the training cost. Pilots can rent planes from the Club: you are charged only for the time the plane is in use.
How much does it cost?
fleet_line
That depends, but a reasonable average is about $7,000 for a Private License, or $5,000 for a Recreational Permit. You "pay as you go," by cash, cheque or credit card. Please browse this page for the approximate cost for each type of license.
I want to be a Professional Pilot. Can you help?
fleet_line
Yes, we offer a Professional Pilot course that will give you all the qualifications you need to get that first flying job. Windsor Flying Club graduates are flying for airlines around the country and the world!
Once I get my License how often do I have to fly in order to keep it?
fleet_line
You keep your privileges as long as you fly once every 5 years. If you want to rent an aircraft from the Club you must fly at least once every 60 days. If you haven't flown within 60 days, you will have to take a short check flight with an instructor. You must also have a valid medical.
